Lahori degi chanay is a traditionally made flavorful chickpea curry popular for breakfast and brunch. It is taken with naan (baked white bread) and the taste is unique and different from other kinds of white chickpea dishes. Lahori Chanay are deliciously spiced. The chanay (white chickpea) are simmered until tender and infused with spices resulting in gravy that softly melts in the mouth. This dish is liked by people all over Punjab for its uniquely delicious taste.

  1. White chickpeas: 2 cups
  2. Onions: 4
  3. Tomatoes: 2
  4. Red chilli powder: 2 tablespoon
  5. Cumin seeds: 1 tablespoon
  6. Turmeric powder: 1 tablespoon
  7. Coriander powder: 1 tablespoon
  8. Oil: 2 cups
  9. Salt: 1 tablespoon
  10. Ginger garlic paste:

Steps to follow:

  • Take oil in a pan and add chopped onions.
  • Fry them for a while and then add  ginger garlic paste.
  • Then add chopped  tomatoes and  chopped green chilli to it.
  • Cook them well.
  • Now add all the dry spices in it.
  • Now again cook it for a few minutes until the oil get separated.
  • Now at boiled chickpeas to it.
  • Then cook it for a while
  • Then garnish it with coriender leaves

Serving:

Serve it with chapati or naan
